Yield: 8 servings
- 1 pound grass fed ground beef
- 1 pound ground turkey meat
- 1 (14 oz.) can black beans, drained & rinsed
- 28 oz. can chopped san marzano tomatoes
- 4 scallions, thinly sliced
- 1 T chili powder
- 1/4 tsp garlic powder
- 1/4 tsp red pepper flakes
- 1/4 tsp dried oregano
- 1/2 tsp paprika
- 1.5 tsp ground cumin
- 1 tsp sea salt
- 1 tsp ground black pepper
Instructions
Step 1
Mix ground beef + turkey together and brown over medium-high heat.
Step 2
While meat is browning, combine seasoning: chili powder, garlic powder, red pepper flakes, oregano, paprika, ground cumin, salt and pepper.
Step 3
Drain fat from meat.
Step 4
Add scallions and 1 T of the taco seasoning mix until scallions are soft.
Step 5
Then add the remaining seasoning & can of chopped tomatoes.
Step 6
Cover and let simmer about 15 minutes.
Step 7
Serve meat with taco shells, lettuce, cheese, guacamole & salsa.
Notes
Short Cut: Mix the seasoning in larger quantities ahead of time and save in your spice cabinet.
Think Out of the Ice Box: Use other ground meat such as bison or chicken.
